Our ethos

Our ethos is stewardship.STEWARD isn’t about coming into an organisation as the clever external expert with all the answers. It’s about taking care of something important alongside the people who own it; listening, sharing knowledge, exercising good judgement and helping them navigate change responsibly. The aim is simple, to leave the organisation stronger and better equipped to carry the work forward itself.

Let's talk about what could work better.

Whether you have a specific project in mind or simply want to explore what’s possible, we’d love to hear from you.

Translating service design into organisation design

Great service design needs an organisation built to deliver it. We translate service and operating model designs into practical organisation designs, putting the right structures, roles, responsibilities and accountabilities around the service.

The Problem

There’s a gap between designing a service and organising the people who deliver it.

Designing a great service is only half the job.

Service design answers questions about customer journeys, processes, touchpoints, channels, standards and how the service should operate. But once that model exists, another question emerges.

How should we organise people to deliver it?

That means translating the service model into teams, roles, responsibilities, reporting lines, accountabilities, leadership, capabilities and decision rights.

Where steward comes in

We work in the translation

The operating model tells us what the service needs to do and how it needs to work. We translate those requirements into how the organisation needs to be structured to deliver it, before supporting the transition into implementation.

Our Approach

A structured way to translate service design into organisation design

We use three connected tools to move from the requirements of the service to an organisation designed to deliver them.

Culture-Informed Workforce Strategy

When low trust, burnout, siloed working or weak accountability start to show, culture is often the signal. We use employee voice to understand the experiences shaping people’s beliefs and behaviours, then turn that insight into a targeted workforce strategy that makes a real difference.

The Problem

When culture is the concern.

Low trust. Siloed working. Burnout. Low accountability.

These are often described as culture problems. But culture isn't created in isolation. It's the result of what people experience every day inside the organisation.

So what actually shapes culture?

Culture shows up through behaviours, beliefs, mindsets, communication patterns and engagement. And those things are influenced by people's experience of the environment around them.

Where steward comes in

A workforce strategy built through the lens of culture

Our Culture-Informed Workforce Strategy™ methodology connects workforce strategy to the lived experience of your people. We listen, diagnose and design across the employee lifecycle, then help embed and refine the interventions needed to shift experience, behaviour, culture and performance.

Change Management

Public sector change comes in all shapes and sizes. A new structure, a new policy, new standards, a transformed service or simply a better way of doing something that isn't working. We provide the expertise and hands-on capacity to take change from intention to implementation, working alongside your people to design it, deliver it and embed it.

Managing Change Matters

The decisions made along the path to change affect services, teams and people. We understand the weight of that responsibility.

A safe pair of hands

When you need additional expertise and capacity, we step in. We can lead a defined piece of change, strengthen an existing programme or embed within your team to help deliver it. Whatever the role, you get dedicated, specialist support that takes ownership, works through complexity and keeps things moving.

Someone to rely on when it matters

Change can be complex, sensitive and demanding. We bring the judgement, professionalism and dedication needed to carry it through responsibly, from decision to delivery and beyond.
